There’s something I hear all the time. People say it and it’s completely untrue. You might too so I need to share it with you.
“I don’t think about it, I just do it.”
It’s false because you do think about it and you don’t “just do it.”
Every single action we take is caused by a thought.
You may not realize you’re thinking it though because a lot of our thoughts are subconscious. You don’t have to consciously think about how exactly you drive a car, you just do it because your unconscious thoughts guide you.
Your thoughts are always there and they’re always causing you to feel emotions and those emotions are always driving you to do something or not do something.
Do you ever stop and listen to your own thoughts?
Wouldn’t you like to know what’s causing you to feel they way you do and what’s causing you to do what you do?
You’ve probably heard me say this many times, but it bears repeating. Since your thinking is what needs to change in order to stop binge eating, you have to be aware of what you’re thinking.
You can’t just let your thoughts exist without taking notice of them and working on them.
The subconscious ones are tougher to get at and this is where coaching comes in. I help you uncover them.
But the conscious ones, you hear them all the time and you allow them to guide you into a binge.
What do you think about before you binge?
If you have no idea, it’s time to start paying attention.
If you do know, write those thoughts down and take a look at them.
Now, I have the best news for you. All of those thoughts are changeable. All of them.
All of your thoughts driving you to binge can be changed into thoughts that drive you to not binge.
That’s exactly the work I did to stop binge eating and it works. It works so good.
Look at what you think about without judgement. No need to get upset with the way you think, it’s just how you’ve programmed yourself to think over a period of time. It doesn’t mean anything about you except that you did a good job practicing your thoughts.
And since you were so good at practicing your old thoughts, then you can be so good at practicing the new thoughts too!
It’s all changeable. You can change how you think, you can change how you feel, and you can change what you do.
But before you change anything, for now, just look at your thoughts. Know what they are. Know that you don’t have to think that way forever. Don’t worry about the how just yet, just know that it’s possible.
You can change, and you will, and it’s going to be amazing!
