Sometimes You Don’t Binge

When was the last time you didn’t binge?

When was the last time you felt an urge to binge but didn’t give in to it?

When was the last time you were eating, it started to get excessive, and you stopped before you felt way too full or sick?

When was the last time you felt anxious, frustrated, or lonely and didn’t eat because of it?

It can be so easy to remember the instances when you did binge, but what about the times you didn’t?

Those times are just as important to think about.

They are proof of what you’re capable of doing.

They show that you don’t always end up binge eating.

It’s easy to think you always binge in certain situations, or that you have no self-control, or that you can’t be trusted around certain foods. But you’re just focusing on the wrong evidence. Time and time again you’ve shown these to not be true.

Any win you experience, no matter how small, matters.

If you don’t binge for an entire day, or any time you want to, celebrate it.

If you stop eating before you’re way too full or sick, celebrate it.

If you allow yourself to feel instead of eat, celebrate it.

These are the moments that will give you the evidence you need to believe you do have self-control and you are strong enough.

Remember the times you succeed.
