Applying What You Know About How To Stop Binge Eating

If you’ve been binge eating for awhile, you’ve probably done a lot of reading about the topic.

You’ve read all kinds of articles telling you how to stop or scoured support groups to get ideas.

Yet you keep binge eating.

You know what to do, but you’re just not doing it.

You can have all the knowledge in the world, but if you don’t take the time to apply what you know, that knowledge is useless.

If you’ve been reading my blogs or watching my videos, you’ve learned about why you binge, how to handle certain situations, and how to avoid a binge. But are you actually putting into action what you’ve learned?

Maybe you find yourself thinking that you’ll put your knowledge into action next time because this time you just really need to give in to your urge and binge.

But how many next times are you going to have?

Every time you feel an urge to binge it’s an opportunity for you to overcome binge eating and an opportunity for you to use what you’ve learned.

In that moment, you get to decide whether you’re just going to ignore what you know or utilize it.

A problem a lot of my clients face when they come to me is that they have no idea why they don’t apply what they know.

They say, “I’ve read all your blogs, and I totally get it, but I just can’t do it and I don’t know why.”

Everyone has their own “why” that is specific to them so I can’t write here what it is for you. But what I can tell you is that it’s a belief that you’re holding onto. If you’re not aware of what it is, you need to figure it out.

Uncovering your thought patterns and beliefs is important because they are what is holding you back.

Once you’re able to see what is holding you back, that’s when you’re able to create a game plan to stop allowing it to.

This is something I work closely with my clients on and it’s mind blowing when they’re finally able to see what we uncover together.

It’s really amazing work.

I’ve had people tell me they have no idea what they’re thinking and we figure it out together or people who are very aware of their thinking and what’s going on in their heads, but then together we find out that there’s so much more.

When you do this work on your own without someone guiding you and asking the right questions, you may stop searching for your answers before you get to the real one.

Once you know the real one, it’s very clear what’s causing you to not take action and also what you need to do to take action.

Figuring out even one thought or belief that’s holding you back can cause a huge shift in your behavior. If you want help finding one of yours, we can absolutely do that and maybe more in a 30 minute mini session phone call. Sign up for one at coachkir.com/mini. It’s free and there is no obligation to buy anything.

You have so much knowledge to use, find out what’s holding you back from using it. It’s time for you to start taking action and use what you know so you can stop binge eating for good.
