I’m giving you a challenge to do.
Every day this week, set a goal for yourself.
It doesn’t have to be the most epic goal, and I actually suggest that it isn’t.
Make it small and totally doable.
Decide what it is in the morning or the night before and then remind yourself about it all day.
Don’t forget about it.
Remind yourself that it’s only for today. Whatever you decide to do, it’s not something you’re going to try to do for the next 3 months, just for today.
This takes away all the pressure and the fear of not being able to keep it up.
So what kinds of goals should you set? Here’s a few examples to give you ideas:
I’m not going to stop at the store on my way home.
I’m not going to eat anything after 9pm tonight.
I’m going to set a timer when I feel a feeling I don’t like and sit with it for 5 minutes.
I’m not going eat right when I get home.
Pick one each day. Or you can do the same one everyday if you really want to. It’s your goal, do what you want.
Then, once you accomplish it, write about it.
Take 5 minutes to write about what it was like to do it and how you feel now that you did it.
Mot importantly, be proud of yourself!
Also, just in case, I have to say this:
If you don’t accomplish it, DO NOT beat yourself up about it. It does not mean it’s all over and you should stop this challenge. Still take those 5 minutes to write about what happened so you can learn from it. Then set your goal for the next day.
No drama, no judgment, just curiosity and learning.
You’re learning about yourself and what you need to work on. This is such valuable information!
The purpose of this challenge is to create a sense of accomplishment and build confidence and trust in yourself.
It only takes one day of showing yourself that you can set out to do something and follow through to start proving how capable you are.
Remember, you can make these goals small. Think about something you keep doing that leads you to binge and commit to making one tiny change.
Believe in yourself.
